Chevy Traverse is a seven or eight (depending on build) seat full-size crossover SUV built on the GM Lambda platform. As it was introduced to the market in 2008, it is still in first generation. However, Traverse already had two facelifts which means that time has come for a second generation. 2015 Chevrolet Traverse will most probably remain a first-gen vehicle, but for how long it will go, we shall see.
2015 Chevrolet Traverse review
Traverse comes in four standard Chevy trims: LS, 1LT, 2LT and LTZ. In addition, they all come as FWD or 4WD with 3.6L V6 engine producing 281 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque and with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Since it already received a major facelift a year ago, no significant changes can be expected from the 2015 model. As far as exterior goes, a refreshed grille, taillights and headlights, coupled with a few minor additions or changes in chassis are all that new Traverse really needs, apart, maybe from a start-stop feature and general improvement in fuel efficiency.
On the inside, Traverse is very well equipped, even at LS trim. Naturally, it comes with a third row of seats that can be folded down for improved cargo space. All trims come with fiber or optional leather coated seats. Also, all of them come with air conditioning, rear vision camera, 6.5 inch touch screen etc. Better equipped trims have more features like Bose premium speaker system or heated and cooled front seats and there are some optional features like Bose 5.1 surround speaker system and 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat. Maybe Chevy will throw in some new features but it is hard to figure what exactly besides updates in materials, software and new technologies.
Fuel efficiency, as mentioned above, could be a bit better, but is still admirable to say the least. Currently, Chevy Traverse goes a solid 17 mpg in a city and 24 mpg on a highway. Despite solid values in this category, manufacturers always try to cut the fuel consumption any way they can and it is to be expected that they’ll do just that.
2015 Chevrolet Traverse Price and release date
Prices vary from trim to trim which is only natural. They go from $30,795 for a stock LS to $43,255 for a stock LTZ. They can go even higher with all the optional equipment available, but not too much. 2015 model will probably remain in this price range.
When all is said and done, 2015 Chevrolet Traverse will surely be more than a solid buy because it is fuel-efficient for such a big vehicle and it offers smooth and comfortable driving experience.
